Bobby Wayne Mayhew, 70 of Bedford, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born on Friday, July 11, 1941 in Bedford County, a son of the late Harry Fulton Mayhew and Thelma Vivian Overstreet Mayhew. He was also preceded in death by daughter, Lisa M. Draper He was a retired truck driver for Sam Moore and was a member Calvary Baptist Church. Surviving is his wife, Hazel St. Clair Mayhew; a daughter, Pamela M. Cook & husband Troy of Roanoke; grandson, Nicholas Derek Cook of Roanoke; a granddaughter, Kyndall Draper of Bedford; two brothers, Leonard F. Mayhew & wife Barbara and Raymond A. Mayhew & wife Zell, all of Bedford; two sisters, Vernelle M. Dillon & husband Jerry of Bedford, and Alice M. Meador of Moneta; a step-son, Steve K. Karnes & wife Julia of New Mexico; two step grandsons and three step great-grandchildren. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Calvary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 885, Bedford Va 24523 or the Bedford Life Saving Crew, P.O. Box 161 Bedford, VA 24523. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 7:30 pm at the Updike Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Lyons officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:30 pm until the time of the service at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
