Sue Ayers Dick, 79 of Bedford, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Tuesday, February 21, 1933 in Bedford, a daughter of the late William Herbert Ayers and Lillie Florence Bragg Ayers. Sue graduated from both Bedford High School & Phillips Business College and was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church. She was a very giving & loving mother & grandmother, always putting others needs before her own, but above all, she treasured her precious children and grandchildren. Surviving are her daughters, Mitzi D. Surbaugh & friend, Mr. Abby Schuller of Virginia Beach, VA, Taffy D. Peters-Fowler & husband, Todd of Bedford, her grandchildren, Jessica Lynn Surbaugh of NY, Elyse Marie Surbaugh of Virginia Beach, Chase Alden Peters of Bedford and a step-granddaughter, Lindsay Renee Fowler of Bedford. She is also survived by the father of her children, Lawrence E. Dick, Jr.of Bedford; two brothers, William Herbert "Bill" Ayers & wife, Gladys of Ashland, Robert W. "Bobby" Ayers & wife, Jan of FL; three sisters, Joanne Ayers Grahame of Chesapeake, Patsy A. Dooley & husband, Don of Bedford and Angie A. Patterson of Bedford. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Bedford Carilion Hospice, P. O. Box 688, Bedford, VA 24523. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at 3:00 pm at Main Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Flores & Rev. Bart Weakley officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call after 11 AM and the family will receive friends Saturday from 4 until 7 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
