Ruth Callaham Waldron Burnette, 88, of Montvale, went home Tuesday, July 31, 2012. She was preceded in death by parents Walter Lewis Callaham, Sr. and Clara Jane Wheeler, a sister Mary Bowling, a brother Walter Lewis Callaham, Jr., her first husband, Norman O. Waldron, a son Larry D. Waldron, and her second husband, Louis E. Burnette. Born December 27, 1923 in Thaxton, Ruth lived in Irving, Huddleston, Montvale, and Carriage Hill. She worked at Bedford Memorial Hospital and Rubatex. She enjoyed the Montvale Nutrition Center and Huddleston's Mt. Horeb Methodist Church. She leaves her daughter Norma and son-in-law David Aliff, two grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends. She requested no flowers, but contributions be made to the Montvale Rescue Squad, 1485 Montvale Street, Montvale, VA 24122. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
