Winifred "Peggy" Preston Turner, 85 of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Bedford Memorial Hospital. She was born on Wednesday, December 8, 1926 in Dinwiddie Co., a daughter of the late Robert Glen Preston and Opal Leftwich Nichols Preston. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Alton Rudolph Turner. She was a retired Inspector with Piedmont Label and was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church. Surviving are her nieces, Brenda Lucas of Port Orange, FL, Kay Thomas of Narrows, a sister-in-law, Eunice Saunders of Moneta and a special cousin, Patricia Updike Gray of Bedford. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 27, 2012 at 2 PM at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Bart Weakley officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 until 7 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
