Bobby Lee Johnson, 71 of Bedford, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012 at his residence. He was born on Monday, June 9, 1941 in Bedford County, a son of the late Oma B. Johnson and Bertha Dellis Johnson. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Johnson Dillon and a brother, O. B. Johnson, Jr. He was a retired truck driver with Rubatex and was a member of Palestine Baptist Church and the Mentow Masonic Lodge # 108. He also loved designing and building birdhouses. Surviving is his wife, Diane Mitchell Johnson; a daughter, Kiwonna Johnson-Bush & husband, Lee of Bedford; two grandsons, Taylor Preston, Jacob Chatman both of Bedford; three brothers, Lloyd Wilson Johnson of Roanoke, Wayne Johnson & wife, Peggy of Moneta, Travis Johnson & wife, Louise of Gladys; three sisters, Vernelle Tuck & husband, Pete of Huddleston, Sylvia Cox & husband, M. J. of Moneta, Nadine Hodges of Roanoke as well as numerous nieces & nephews and close friends. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider the Bedford Carilion Hospice, P. O. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 6:00 PM at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Jackie Carver officiating.
