Rodger Douglas Bivens, 68 of Salem, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Carrington Place at Botetourt. He was born on Sunday, July 16, 1944 in Battlecreek, MI, a son of the late Howard Carl Bivens and Maxine Lucas Bivens. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Bivens. He was retired from Ingersol Rand as an Electronics Technician and was a member of the American Legion Post # 3. He was also a U. S. Navy Veteran. Surviving is his wife, Erna Kay Glessner Bivens; two daughters, Barbara Rezzonico & husband, Steve, Lisa McDaniel & husband, Josh; a son, Larry Bivens & wife, Lisa; nine grandchildren Bryan, Anthony, & Thomas Rezzonico, Victor & William Louderback, Logan Bivens, Aiden, Isabella & Emma McDaniel; a brother, Richard Bivens & wife, Sharon, as well as numerous nieces & nephews. . A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 3:00 pm at the family home with Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. Those needing directions to the service, are asked to call 540-297-7092. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
