Obituary of Hubert Ayers SR

Hubert Earl Ayers, Sr., 61 of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born on Tuesday, October 3, 1950 in Botetourt County, a son of the late James E. Ayers and Annie M. Booth Ayers. He was of the Baptist faith and was a Stonemason by trade. His works here on earth will be looked upon for many, many years as beautiful as well as useful. He took a piece of God's creation, a rock, and worked each one for it's beauty and usefulness in each rock wall he built. He was a simple man but yet strong and compassionate. A wonderful husband, father and grandfather. A man with many unspoken strong bonds of love to all of his family and friends. Surviving is his wife, Patricia Saul Ayers; his children, Hubert E. Ayers, Jr. & wife, Lisa of Vinton, Tracy E. Ayers of Roanoke; five grandchildren, Dustin Ayers of Harrisonburg, Cody & Hope Ayers of Vinton, Trevor & Tyler Williams of Bedford; three brothers, Richard Ayers of Appomattox, Clifton Ayers & wife, Sarah of Moneta, Johnny Ayers & wife, Linda of Roanoke; two sisters, Eulla Johnson of Lebanon, TN, Lorene Walker & husband, Jimmy of Troutville, his mother-in-law, Vivian Saul of Bedford; brothers-in-law, Roger & Johnny Saul of Bedford; Terry Saul of Moneta; sisters-in-law, Joyce Terry & husband, Bob, Mary Lee Bryant & husband, Bill all of Moneta, Brenda Richardson & husband, Phil of Ocala, FL, Kay Underwood & husband, David of Goodview, Jane Smith & husband, Nathan of Thaxton; a special friend, Mary Whorley of Thaxton. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 17, 2012 at 10:00 am at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Kyle Dooley officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Land USA - Mt. of Olives Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
