Lawrence Allen Long, Sr., (Ednee), 77 of Montvale, VA passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Salem Health & Rehab Center. He was born on Thursday, October 11, 1934 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Crowder R. Long and Anna Higgins Long. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Lou Fisher Long. Surviving is his companion, Normie Looney of Montvale, 2 daughters, Judy Parent of DE and Dawn Wiley of Bedford, 3 sons, Steve Long & wife, Susan of NC, Lawrence A Long Jr. of IL and Lawrence E. Long of Bedford, 9 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren and a sister, Helen Long Bramlett of Moneta. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider the Montvale Life Saving Crew, P.O. Box 65, Montvale VA 24122 . Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 10:00 am at the Walnut Grove Union Church Cemetery with Rev. Johnny Basham officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. at the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
