Brenda Arthur Maxfield, 56 of Bedford, VA passed away Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born on Thursday, November 5, 1953 in Bedford County, VA, a daughter of Odelle Witt Arthur of Bedford who survives and the late Welford H. Arthur. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Johnny Maxfield; a daughter, Amy Gear & D. J. Sipes; two sons, Jesse Maxfield, Eric Severs & Kathy Marshall; a brother, John Arthur & wife, Linda; two sisters, Alice Foutz & husband, Gerald, Betty Maxfield & husband, Kenneth; nine grandchildren, Tyler Bell, Amber Scruggs, Kaitlyn Gear, Megan Gear, Alyssa Severs, Hayden Severs, Gerogia Severs, Michael Sipes, & Jennifer Sipes; two great-grandchildren, Sara McGuire, Nicolas Sipes, as well as numerous nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held at the graveside at Suck Spring Bapitst Church Cemetery on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 2:00 PM. Friends may call Wednesday after 12 noon and the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
