Virginia Lois Wood Mattox, 85 of Lynch Station, completed her final journey on Tuesday, October 30, 2012. She was born on Monday, November 15, 1926 in Lynchburg, a daughter of the late William Henry Wood and Eleanor Irene Casey Wood. She was also preceded in death by a step-granddaughter, Debra A. Eubank. She was a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher and friend to all. She had attended First Southern Baptist Church of Hurt, VA in recent years. She will be fondly remembered for her love of flowers, baseball and many travel adventures; she had many hobbies and showed kindness to everyone she met. Surviving is her husband of sixty-six years, William T. Mattox; two daughters, Sharon L. Eubank & husband, Bernard, Kathy J. Mattox; a son, Paul E. Mattox, two grandchildren, Timothy Cannon (Lisa) and Christina Rose Mattox, three step-great-grandchildren, Chasity, Cotey & CheyAnne. Funeral services will be held at the graveside at Union Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at 11:00 am with Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
