Charles Hayden "Poe" Cox, 83 of Evington, passed away Friday, October 19, 2012. He was born May 23, 1929 in Campbell County, a son of the late William Edward Cox and Lucy Emma Cox Cox. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Catherine Witt Cox. He was a retired employee of Virginia Department of Transportation with 46 years service. He is survived by two step-sons, Ricky W. Tucker & wife, Donna, Bobby Tucker & wife, Mary, all of Evington; a step-daughter, Emily Logwood & husband, Gaither of Lynch Station; a grandson, Ricky W. Tucker, Jr., of Evington and a granddaughter, Tonya Brown of Evington; a sister, Etta Coffey of Altavista and numerous nieces & nephews. A funeral service will be conducted from the graveside at the Tucker Family Cemetery on Monday, October 22, 2012 at 2 PM with Rev. Wayne Draughn officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of the sister, Etta Coffey, 8375 Gladys Road, Altavista immediately following the service. The family requests that those wishing to make donations to consider Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, P. O. Box 926, Bedford, VA 24253 to defray the funeral costs.
