Daniel E. Sanders, 70 of Thaxton, passed away Monday, October 15, 2012 at his residence. He was born on Sunday, May 17, 1942 in Buchanan Co., a son of the late James A. Sanders and Ora Belle Penley Sanders. He was a retired welder with Fruit Growers Express Railway and was a member of the Moose Lodge # 1897. Surviving is his wife, Judy Ferguson-Sanders; four daughters, Orie Wangler & husband, Tom of McLoud, OK, Wainoke Kummell & husband, Scott, La'Trenda Cronk & husband, Rick all of Choctaw, OK, La'Mona Sanders of Bedford; a son, James W. Sanders of Victoria, VA; two sisters, Lena Sutorka, & Julia O'Quinn; twelve grandchildren, one great grandchild, and their dogs, "The Boys". Never meeting a stranger, Dan had many friends and endless family, including Andy & Denise Keen and Harlan Blankenship. Funeral services will be held at the graveside at Palestine Church Cemetery on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 3:00 pm. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 until 7 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
