Robert Allen Long, 60, of Bedford, formerly of Glasgow, died on Thursday October 11, 2012 at his home of a heart attack. He was born March 10, 1952 to the late Mae B. Turner and Johnny Lawhorne. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Gregory, a granddaughter Amanda Long, his mother & father -in law Edsel & Mary Gish and his Aunt & Uncle Martha & Andy Nucklos who helped raise him. Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Brenda Long; sons and wives, Robert L. Long (Rachel) of Roanoke, Stephen A. Long (Heidi) of Acworth, GA, Anthony Troy Long (Donna) of Savannah GA; two very special Grandchildren, Keith Long who he was so very proud of and Madison Long who was his special princess and also very proud of; nephew Pete Gregory and niece Gladys Armstrong of Buena Vista. He had numerous cousins and special Aunts by marriage, Nancy Sturgill, Marie Davis, Joan Tabor, Peggy Orton and one Uncle Allen Creger. Special people in his life, Steve & Pam Viar & family, Jerry & Wendy Brammer, Ricky & Lora Akers, Julues & Martha Gencarille from Florida and his special dog, Ernie. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday October 14 at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Vernon DeLong officiating. Arrangements by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford
