Benjamin Franklin Meadows, 80 of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born on Thursday, July 7, 1932 in Richwood, WV, a son of the late Earnest Letcher Meadows and Clarice Jane Losh Meadows. He was also preceded in death by his brothers & sisters, Paul Meadows, Mary Brown, Esther Green, Herbert Meadows, Earnest Meadows, James, Flora, Jessie & Ronnie Meadows. He was a retired five star service manager with Peaks Motors and was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served during the Korean War. Surviving is his wife, Betty S. Meadows; a daughter, Beth Meadows & partner, Julia Thomason of Salisbury, NC; two sons, Bruce Meadows & wife, Teresa of Bedford, Brian Meadows & friend, Wendy Jordan of Forest, three granddaughters, Tiffany Brooke Meadows, Danielle Crews, Brandy Giles, three great-grandchildren, MaKaylah Giles, McKenzie Giles & Aayden Crews. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hickory Grove United Methodist Church, c/o Mike Amert, 1707 Virginia Byway, Bedford, VA 24523 or Bedford Christian Ministries, 217 West Washington Street, Bedford, VA 24523. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Davis, Rev. Steve Turner & Rev. William Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12 until 2 PM at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
