Obituary of Harvey Meador

Early Monday morning, God called Billy, his child, home. Harvey A. "Billy" Meador, 84 of Moneta, was the youngest of four children born to the late Harvey Meador and Mary Elizabeth McGeorge Meador. He was also preceded in death by a special grandson, Brian Kendrick, a brother, Clark Meador and a sister, Pauline Wilson. He was a longtime & faithful member of Epworth United Methodist Church. He served in the U. S. Army, Company A, Service Battery as a mechanic in Germany. He retired from Rubatex after working many years at Singer Furniture. Surviving is his loving wife and best friend, Lorraine Ellis Meador; four daughters, Carol Jean Gramling & husband, Richard of Moneta, Kaye Key & husband, Robert of Bedford, Faye Martin & husband, Barry of Moneta, Emily Meador of Hardy, four grandchildren, Anita Hoghaug & husband, Matt, Josh Martin & friend, Ashley, Justin Key & wife, Courtney, Tucker Key & friend, Kaitlyn, three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Kendra & Tyler Hoghaug. Also surviving is a sister, Ruth Windsor; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Wuergler & Myrtle Ellis; special best friend, Tilton Meador as well as many nieces, nephews & friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Epworth United Methodist Church, ATTENTION: Tina Rex, 60 Merriman Way Road, Moneta, VA 24121, The Gideon International, P. O. Box 915, Rocky Mount, VA 24151, or Epworth Cemetery, ATTENTION: Eddie Robertson 227 Merriman Way Road, Moneta, VA 24121. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Epworth United Methodist Church with Pastor Josh Munnikhuysen officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford and other times at the home.
