Cecile Lambert Hughes, 80 of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Bedford County Nursing Home. She was born on Thursday, June 9, 1932 in Wewoka, Oklahoma, a daughter of the late William Lambert and Esther Cochren Lambert. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Weldon Hughes. She was a retired registered nurse and was a member of Ephesus United Methodist Church. Surviving are her daughters, Lee Ann Johnson, Kimberly Hughes, Cyndi Alder & husband, Robert, Tracy Fabian & husband, Joseph; a son, Thomas Hughes & wife, Renee. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider American Cancer Society, 216 Atherholt Road, Lynchburg, VA 24501. Funeral services will be held at the graveside at Ephesus United Methodist Church Cemetery, 715 Otter Hill Road, Bedford, VA 24523 on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 11:00 am with Rev. Jerry Viemeister officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
