Ruby Wilkes Foster, 94 of Moneta, passed away Monday, October 1, 2012 at Autumn Care of Altavista. She was born on Thursday, February 28, 1918 in Vinton, a daughter of the late Lowry Thomas Wilkes and Clara Edith Gillispie Wilkes. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter Moorman Foster and a daughter, Aleen Martie Foster. She was a member of Morgans Baptist Church. Surviving is her daughter, Shelvia Arthur & husband, Joe of Hurt; two sons, Michael Foster & wife, Judy, Richard Foster & Cynthia all of Moneta; a sister, Doris Wheeler of Vinton; two brothers, James Wilkes of Vinton, Morris Wilkes of Blue Ridge as well as eight grandchildren & ten great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Morgans Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Mallory officiating. Interment will follow in Morgans Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 until 7:30 at Morgans Baptist Church. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
