Lillian Iva Ferguson Franklin, 96 of Bedford, passed away Friday, September 28, 2012 at McCall's Hospice in Simpsonville, SC.. She was born on Saturday, February 5, 1916 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late James Russell Ferguson and Eva Barr Dowdy Ferguson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Landon Rice Franklin, a grandson, Terry Caudle and a brother, Kermit R. Ferguson. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed gardening. She was also a member of Bedford Baptist Church. Surviving are her daughters, Shelby F. McCrimmon & husband, Mike of Greenville, SC, Mary F. Bryant of Bedford; a son, Jimmy Ray Franklin of Bedford; three grandchildren, Leisa Sutton of Charleston, SC, Kelly Franklin of Portland, ME, Colin Franklin of Bedford; three great grandchildren, Jessica Cherok, Erik Caudle, Terrance Caudle; a great great granddaughter, Lillian Sophia Cherok; a half-brother, James Ferguson of Bedford. The family requests that those wishing to make memorials to consider the McCall Hospice House, 1836 W. Georgia Road, Simpsonville, GA 29681. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Bedford Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. David Henderson officiating. Interment will follow in Virginia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 02, 2012 from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
