Lucille Meador Ellis, 81 of Bedford, VA passed away Monday, May 10, 2010 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born on Tuesday, October 9, 1928 in Bedford Co., VA, a daughter of the late William Meador and Evie Hannabass Meador. She was also preceded in death by a her husband, John Will Ellis; a daughter, Ann Johnson; a brother, Carroll Meador & wife, Ruby and a sister, Nellie Jean Mays. She was a retired employee of Longwood Industries and was a member of Emmaus United Methodist Church. Surviving are her daughters, Pam Smith & husband, Russell of Bedford; Robin Stiff & husband, Derrick of Bedford, two sons, Mark Ellis & wife, Debbie of Bedford; Dale Ellis & wife, Teresa of Roanoke; her brother-in-law, Sherman Mays; six grandchildren, Margaret Davis, Melisa Witt & husband, David, David Rowse & wife, Melanie, Russell Smith & wife, Angie, Danielle Ellis, Nicole Ellis; six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Paul Greer officiating. Interment will follow in Diamond Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday after 2 PM and the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
