Thomas Owen Phillips, 84 of Bedford, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2012 at his residence. He was born on Wednesday, January 11, 1928 in Bedford County, a son of the late Eldridge Phillips and Lena Orange Phillips. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Elizabeth Gordon Phillips and a son, Gordon Phillips. He was an employee of Johnson Apple Orchard. Surviving is his daughter, Lisa Robertson & husband, Mike; three grandchildren, Sandra Robertson, Francis J. Robertson, Thomas W. Robertson; five sisters, Leila White, Rachel Ruff & husband, Richard, Ida Karnes, sister, Lucille Eisenhour & husband, Ike, Margie Johnson & husband, Fred; two brothers, Will Phillips, Bobby Phillips, as well as several nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held at the graveside at Peaks Presbyterian Church & Community Cemetery on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 AM until 12 noon at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
