Lula "Frankie" Spradlin Wood, 98 of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at Campbell Rest Home. She was born on Friday, March 20, 1914 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Wilbur "Doc" Spradlin and Emma Whorley Spradlin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marvin B. Wood and a daughter, Arlene W. Williams. She was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church. Surviving is her son-in-law, Carter H. Williams; a granddaughter, Monica W. Bobbitt of Bedford, two grandsons, David C. Williams & wife, Wanda, Michael J. Williams all of Bedford; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Bobbitt & Jason Williams; two step great granddaughters, six step great great grandchildren. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Bethesda United Methodist Church, 14340 Wyatts Way, Huddleston, VA 24104. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012 at 11:00 am at Bethesda United Methodist Church with Rev. Wayne Murphy & Rev. Sue Keen officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 9:30 until the time of the service at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
