Obituary of Cecil Whorley SR

Cecil Kyle Whorley, Sr., 86, of Goode, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at his residence. He was born on Saturday, September 25, 1926 in Bedford County, a son of the late David H. Whorley and Mary Alice Witt Whorley. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Carlton Kent Whorley, five brothers, Paul, Thornton, Carlton, Junior and Aubrey Whorley, and four sisters, Avis Thomas, Evelyn Whorley, Vernelle Granger, and Audrey Hicks. He was the owner of Mountain View Dairy Farm, and was a member of Pisgah Presbyterian Church . He is survived by his wife of fifty three years, Reva Mae Poe Whorley; two daughters, Cecilia W. Fowler and husband Lee, Glenna W. Gilliland and husband David, all of Goode; three sons, Kyle Whorley and wife Lorene, Barry Whorley and wife, Lynnette all of Goode, and Glenn Whorley and wife Sheri of Madison Heights; eleven grandchildren, Derek Fowler and wife Sierra, Lynchburg, Carl Fowler and wife Mariel, Forest, Brandon Whorley, Lynchburg, Brent Whorley & wife Elizabeth, Lynchburg, Jeremy Whorley and girlfriend Charity Harold, Lynchburg, B.J. Whorley, Goode, Tyler Whorley, Goode, Christian Whorley, Goode, Justin Whorley, Lynchburg, Lillian Whorley, Madison Heights, and Lauren Whorley, Madison Heights; two great-grandchildren, Nicole Grace Fowler, Forest, and Eli Whorley, Lynchburg; a very special friend, Ronald Epps and wife Anne; and many nieces and nephews. A very special thanks to Ashley Parrish (pretty little girl), my adopted granddaughter, Suanna Keesee, Lisa Parrish, and Tina Cheek. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Pisgah Presbyterian Church with Dave Greene and Pastor Joe Horrell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, December 21, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
