Joyce Cundiff Holdren, 77 of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born on Monday, September 9, 1935 in Vinton, a daughter of the late Davis W. Cundiff and Mamie Ferguson Cundiff. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Collins Holdren, Sr. She was a bus driver with Bedford County Public Schools and was a member of Quaker Baptist Church, the B. P. O. E Elks Lodge # 321 and the Peaks of Otter Rebekahs Lodge # 32 and was a past Noble Grand. Surviving are her sons, Robert C. Holdren, Jr. & wife, Paula, Timothy D. Holdren & wife, Debbie, all of Bedford; five granddaughters, Megan, Kallie, Laura, Brianna & Natalie Holdren, sister, Nellie Blount of Goodview. Special thanks to a dear friend Rita Calhoun for her care and friendship. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 12:00 am at Quaker Baptist Church with Rev. David Timma officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery . The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 until the time of the service at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
