Obituary of Charles Wallace JR

Charles Richard "Rick" Wallace, Jr., 55 of Roanoke, and longtime resident of the Peninsula, passed away Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 8, 1957 in Martinsville, VA. He was employed by Wells Fargo Bank as a Credit Consultant for Western Virginia. He was a recent member of Oakland Baptist Church and a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Newport News, where he served as a Sunday School Teacher and Deacon. Rick is survived by his wife, Dottie Wilson Wallace; his son, Charles Richard "Chad" Wallace III & wife, Lindsay, of Christiansburg; his daughter, Carlie Wallace Linde & husband, Dietrich, of Fairfax; two grandchildren, Zoe Gail Wallace & Charles Richard "Chase" Wallace IV; his sisters, Susan W. Tweedy & husband, John, of Williamsburg, Lynetta W. Wapner of Elkton; his father-in-law, Corbin L. Wilson of Roanoke; his sister-in-law, Pam Provow & husband, Kevin, of Chesapeake as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins & extended family members. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Richard Wallace, Sr., mother, Betty Connock Wallace Armstrong, a sister, Patricia W. Michael & her husband, Craig, and a brother-in-law, David Wapner. In lieu of flowers, the family requests those wishing to make memorials consider donations to the Wallace/Linde Grandchildren College Fund, P. O. Box 926, Bedford, VA 24523. Interment will be on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 11 am at Leftwich Cemetery, 3380 Smith Mountain Lake Parkway, Huddleston, VA 24104, followed by a service to celebrate Rick's life at 3:00 pm at Oakland Baptist Church, 3623 Round Hill Avenue, NE, Roanoke, with Rev. Dennis Adams officiating. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
