Ella Burroughs Rice, 96 of Bedford, passed away Monday, January 7, 2013 at Campbell Rest Home. She was born on Tuesday, January 2, 1917 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late George Thomas Burroughs and Coral Scott Burroughs. She was also preceded in death by husband, Marshall Joe Rice. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church . Surviving are her sons, Dean Russell Rice wife, Bonnie of Nanty Glo, PA, Danny Ray Rice wife, Savinia of Bedford; a daughter, Cathern Spradlin Geiger friend, Robert Shepherd of Bedford; eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren. The family would like to thank Campbell Rest Home and Southern Care Hospice for their kind and compassionate care over the years. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Vernon DeLong officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home Cremation Service, Bedford.
