Obituary of Arlene Meador
Please share a memory of Arlene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Arlene Tuck Meador, a lifelong resident of Moneta, entered into the joy of the Lord on her 85th birthday Friday, January 4, 2013. She was born January 4, 1928 to the late Earl R. Tuck and Elma Kendrick Tuck. A graduate of Moneta High School, she was retired from the Rubatex Corporation after 33 years of service. Arlene was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and a member of the Radford Baptist Church in Moneta where she served in various capacities during her lifelong service to the Lord. Though she possessed numerous spiritual gifts, she is most remembered for her gift of hospitality. Her warm and gracious spirit always welcomed family and friends into her home and she made special occasions even more memorable with the beautiful cakes that she created in her home and delivered throughout the area for weddings, birthdays, and other events. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Clarence Tuck. Those left to cherish her memory are her devoted and loving husband of 66 years, Jerry Meador, immediate family, Dr. Kenneth and Sara Tuck of Roanoke, Betty and Norris Goode of Huddleston, Billy and Marie Tuck of Moneta, Nancy and Jake Bryan of Buchanan, Flavius and Violet Cassidy of Moneta, Charlie & Gerry Cassidy of Moneta, Georgiana Tuck of Bedford, Thelma Meador of Moneta, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the Radford Baptist Church located at 1293 Radford Church Rd, Moneta from 2:00 until 4:00. A celebration of Arlene's life will be held Monday, January 7, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Radford Baptist Church with the Rev. Karl Hofheinz and the Rev. Tommy Floyd officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Bedford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Saunders Volunteer Fire Company, P. O. Box 14, Huddleston, VA 24104 or the Huddleston Rescue Squad P. O. Box 77, Huddleston, VA 24104. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
