Russell Lynn Giles, 53 of Thaxton, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013 at the Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born on Friday, October 16, 1959 in Ft. Meade, MD, a son of Kenneth Ray Giles & special friend Doris Myers and the late Marianne Margot Brehm Giles. He was also preceded in death by a brother, James Giles and a sister Susan Ann Creasy. He was a retired U.S. Army veteran having served for 20 years. In addition to his father he is survived by his wife Tina Marie Tullis Giles, 2 sons; Matthew Giles of Thaxton and Ronnie Giles of Christiansburg, a sister, Cynthia J. Shaulis of Lynchburg, his mother-in-law, Janice Tullis of Bedford, his sister-in-law, Paulette Tullis of Bedford, his brother-in-law Cliff Tullis of Birmingham, AL. and a special dog, Cali. Military honors will be accorded on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 3:00 pm at Updike Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 28, 2013 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm.at the funeral home Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
