Obituary of Christine Key

Christine Abbott Key, 81 of Bedford, passed away Monday, February 18, 2013 at Bedford Memorial Hospital. She was born on Wednesday, April 22, 1931 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Hubert James Abbott and Arline Millner Abbott. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Earl Key, a son, Donnie Earl Key and a brother, Earl Abbott. She was a faithful member of Otterville United Methodist Church for sixty years, where she enjoyed serving the Lord & her community. She loved to sing and took pleasure in cooking for her family and also took food to those in need. She also enjoyed working in her garden and flower beds. Surviving are her sons, Wayne E. Key & wife, Sherry, Dennis W. Key & wife, Teresa, Thomas Earl Key, Jr., Jay A. Key & wife, Bonnie all of Bedford; a daughter-in-law, Theresa E. Key of Bedford; four sisters, Polly Telschow & husband, Al of Goode, Linda Key & special friend, Garry Davis, of Bedford, Gloria Fore & husband, Milton, Jr. of Concord, Phyllis Hollon of Lynchburg; three brothers, Jimmy Abbott & wife, Annette, Ellis Abbott, both of Bedford, Jack Abbott of Cifax, as well as nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The family requests those wishing to make memorials consider Otterville United Methodist Church, 6524 Big Island Highway, Bedford, VA 24523. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Mark Wilkerson & Rev. Michael Cox officiating.
