Margaret "Peggy" Hale Lantz, 75 of Montvale, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Bedford Memorial Hospital. She was born on Thursday, October 14, 1937 in Roanoke, daughter of the late James Monroe Hale and Thelma Louise Wimmer Hale. She was also preceded in death by a son, Randal Scott Lantz and a brother, Buster Hale. She was a retired bus driver for Bedford County Public Schools and was a member of Montvale Presbyterian Church. Surviving is her husband, Ronnie Lee Lantz; a son, David Michael Lantz of Montvale; a daughter, Teresa Marie Smith & friend, Mike Dalton of Montvale; four grandchildren, Dana Guess, Allison Lee, Zachary Lantz, Wesley Smith; four great grandchildren; a brother, Douglas Hale of Roanoke; and a sister, Jackie Roberts of Roanoke. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider the American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Avenue, Suite 800, Washington, DC 20004. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 11:00 am at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Steve Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Montvale Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
