Obituary of Iris Lipscomb

Iris Ferguson Lipscomb, 81 of Bedford, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born on Sunday, January 17, 1932 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Charlie Walter Ferguson and Eddie Arthur Ferguson. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Alvin Ferguson, Ray Ferguson, "Jack" Ferguson and four sisters, Hazel Miller, Pauline Cox, Bernice Overstreet & Lois Johnson. She was a retired employee of Rubatex Corporation and was a member of Bedford Baptist Church. Surviving is her husband of sixty-three years, Clyde C. Lipscomb; two sons, Chesleigh Lipscomb & wife, Kathy of Bedford County, Wayne Lipscomb & wife, Teresa of Bedford; a daughter, Diane Lipscomb of Graham, NC; two grandchildren, Jill Lipscomb of Lynchburg, Jacoby Lipscomb & fiance, Marie Granger as well as many nieces and nephews. The family requests that those wishing to make memorials consider the Bedford Baptist Church Elevator Fund, 1516 Oakwood Street, Bedford, VA 24523 or the Bedford Fire Department, 315 Bedford Avenue, Bedford, VA 24523. Funeral services will be held at the graveside at Greenwood Cemetery on Monday, March 18, 2013 at 11:00 am with Rev. Dr. David Henderson officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 until 6 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
