William Tucker Obituary

William Monroe Tucker, age 80, of Moneta, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at his residence. He was born on Thursday, April 17, 1930 in Amarillo, TX, a son of the late Frank L. Tucker and Cecile Arey Tucker. He was preceded in death wife, Virginia Elizabeth Pearl Fuller Tucker. He was a U.S. Navy veteran achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer before retirement and served during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was an avid golfer and longtime member at Popular Forest Golf course. He recently served as president of the Senior Golf Association with many friends. He is survivied by two daughters, Teresa Tucker Byrd of Moneta, and Linda Faye McClannan of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren, Virginia E. Byrd, Marshall W. Byrd, and Matthew S. McClannan. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider American Cancer Society, 2316 Atherholt Rd., Lynchburg, VA 24501. Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Wayne L. Murphy officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
