Joyce Chancellor Wright, 81 of Bedford passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was born on Sunday, June 7, 1931 in Waco, TX, a daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson Chancellor and Lucile Gassaway Chancellor. She was a graduate of Baylor University. In her community activities in Bedford, she especially enjoyed her hospital Auxiliary service and the Bible class she taught for twenty years at her church, Bedford Presbyterian. Surviving is her husband, Monte D. Wright; two daughters, Julie Lockhart & husband, Scott of Auburn, MY, Darcy Wright of Skaneateles, NY, two sons, Robin Edward Wright of Bedford, Bruce Alan Wright; a brother, Thomas J. Chancellor Jr. and his wife, Beverly as well as grandchildren, Kaitlin & Gregory Lockhart and Ashley Stevens. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
