Selma Scott Cousart, 88 of Bedford, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Oakwood Manor Nursing Home. She was born June 30, 1924 in Bedford, a daughter of the late John W. Scott and Eunice Martin Scott. She was a longtime employee of the Woolen Mill and a retiree of Rubatex. She was a member of Bedford Presbyterian Church and on occasions would attend Otterville United Methodist Church with her family. Surviving is her son, J.C. Cousart & wife, Mary Lou of Bedford; two granddaughters, Stacie Cousart of Bambury, England, Cristi Cousart and a great grandson, Lucian of Bedford; a faithful cousin, Jan Watson and two special friends, Christine Eubank of Bedford and Sue Smith of England. She had a great love for her cats and it was often said that her smile could light up a room. Selma had a talent for making people around her feel better. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed being around her family and friends, especially her granddaughters and great grandson. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Bedford Lifesaving Crew, P. O. Box 161, Bedford, VA 24523. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the graveside at Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Mark Wilkerson officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 until 1:30 PM preceding the service at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
