Frances Fariss Dickson, 88 of Bedford, passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 at Bedford Memorial Hospital. She was born on Tuesday, March 10, 1925 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Buford A. Fariss and Maggie McGhee Fariss. She was also preceded in death by her first husband & the father of her children, LeRoy Warren "Jack" Dickson and her second husband, W. Edward Dickson. She was a lifelong member of Ephesus United Methodist Church. Surviving are her daughters, Shirley Bates & husband, Richard, Janet Binger & husband, Freddie, all of Huddleston, Ann Whorley & husband, Randy of Bedford; her son, Kenneth Dickson & wife, Linda of Bedford as well as eleven grandchildren & fifteen great grandchildren. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Ephesus United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 1715 Otter Hill Road, Bedford, VA 24523. Funeral services will be held at the graveside on Monday, May 13, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Ephesus United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Viemeister officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
