Robert James "Old Dude" Dinwiddie, Sr., 81 of Bedford, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2013 at his residence. He was born on Tuesday, November 24, 1931 in Bedford County, a son of the late Thomas Dinwiddie and Evelyn Roberts Dinwiddie . He was a retired employee of Rubatex, a member of Bedford Christian Church, the VFW, Bedford Moose Lodge # 1897 and the American Legion. He was also a veteran of the U. S. Navy having served during the Korean Conflict. Surviving is his daughter, Robin of CA; two sons, Robert James Dinwiddie, Jr. & wife, Julie, Benjamin Dinwiddie all of Bedford; a brother, Davis Dinwiddie; a sister, Betty Blankenship, grandchildren, Carrie Dinwiddie, Derrick Dinwiddie, Benjamin David Dinwiddie, Jr., Brooke Nicole Dinwiddie and great-grandchildren, Thomas Dinwiddie, Benjamin Robert Dinwiddie III. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 until 7 PM with military honors to follow at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
