Thelma Overstreet Mayhew, 95 of Bedford, passed away Friday, June 18, 2010 at Bedford County Nursing Home. She was born on Monday, July 13, 1914 in Bedford Co., a daughter of the late William Albert Overstreet and Mary Anna Milton Overstreet. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry Fulton Mayhew as well as five brothers and five sisters. She was a member of Wilsons United Methodist Church. Surviving are her three sons, Leonard Mayhew & wife, Barbara; Bobby Mayhew & wife, Hazel; Raymond Mayhew & wife, Zell, all of Bedford; two daughter, Vernelle Dillon & husband, Jerry of Bedford; Alice Meador of Moneta; a brother, Melvin (Jake) Overstreet of Bedford; and a sister, Ellen Ayers of Bedford along with seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 21, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Steve Turner, Rev. Ray Lyons and Rev. Ken Butterworth officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday after 12 noon and the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
