Sarah Alice Wheat, 96 of Bedford, VA passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Campbell Rest Home. She was born on Saturday, July 15, 1916 in Bedford, a daughter of the late Percy Norton Wheat and Lambert Olivia Hawkins . She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hazael Kennedy Wheat, a son, James Harold Wheat, She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church . Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Patsy Wheat of Bedford, granddaughter, Lee Ann W. Eagler & husband, Steve of Bedford, grandsons, Roy Lane Wheat & wife Chao of Rockville, MD, and Jay Harold Wheat of Bedford, great-granddaughters, Katie Ann Eagler and Lawren Elizabeth Eagler, great-grandson, Ezekiel James Wheat. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 11:00 am at Updike Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bart Weakley officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call after 12 noon and the family will receive friends Friday, June 07, 2013 from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
