Edith Lacy King, devoted wife and mother, age 80, passed away on July 23rd, 2013. She was born in Bedford County, Virginia to the late Reeves McKinley Lacy and Myrtle Cordelia Swain Lacy. Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Albert King and brothers and sisters: Lucy Pearl Lacy, Donald Lacy, Loxley Lacy, Reeves McKinley Lacy, Jr., Ellen Skinnell, Gertrude Witt, Lois Atkinson, Robert Lacy, Madeline Overstreet. Edith is survived by her daughter Yvonne S. King & son Willard A. King, Jr. She is also survived by her sisters, Frances Leftwich Rardin & Mary Overstreet & their families as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Edith was a talented homemaker who was an excellent cook, seamstress and decorator. She loved to travel and enjoyed living in Kentucky, New Jersey, Panama Canal Zone, Georgia and Florida. Her loyalty, generosity and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Nicopolis United Methodist Church, Bedford, Virginia. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
