Lucille Smith Stevens, 91 of Bedford, passed away Friday, September 20, 2013 at Bedford County Nursing Home. She was born on Tuesday, May 16, 1922 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Jerry Lee Smith and Hettie Miller Smith. She was a retired employee of the Rubatex Corporation and was a member of Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church. Surviving are her daughters, Linda F. Stevens of Bedford, Valerie S. Zimmerman & husband, Gerald of Moneta, Dianne Stevens & husband, Chuck Dews of Roanoke; a son, William L. "Billy" Stevens & wife, Lois of Bedford; three grandchildren, Chris Spradlin, Geoff Zimmerman, Jina Lane; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Scott & Marie Rutosky all of Bedford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 11:00 am at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church with Father Salvador Anonuevo officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call Monday after 12 noon and the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
