Helen Nekonchuk Ellison Hollingsworth, 89 of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Oakwood Health & Rehab. Center. She was born on Friday, December 7, 1923 in Omaha, NE, a daughter of the late Kostantin Nekonchuk and Mildred Maixner Nekonchuk. She was a resident of Oakwood Health & Rehab Center where she was the Resident Council Elect Chaplin. She volunteered for many things at Oakwood and enjoyed the company and visitors that came there. She was also a volunteer with the Central Virginia Area Agency for the Aged and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Surviving are her son, Boyd Ellison & wife Aletha of Omaha, NE, a daughter, Joyce E. Camden & husband H.B. of Bedford, 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Calvary Baptist Church, 800 Smith Street, Bedford, VA 24523. Funeral services will be held on Saturday September 28, at 2:00 PM at the Updike Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Lyons officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Memorial Garden at Holy Land USA. Friends may call after 2 PM Friday and the family will receive friends from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
