Doyle Adrain Cundiff, 84 of Bedford, passed away Monday, November 11, 2013 at Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born on Friday, May 3, 1929 in Bedford County, a son of the late William C. Cundiff and Mary S. Cundiff. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Christine Cundiff. He was a retired diesel mechanic at Thomas Road Baptist Church, a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in the Korean War, was a member of the VFW Post # 2157, the DAV, and Elks Lodge # 321. Surviving is his son, Jerry A. Cundiff & wife, Marilyn of Lynchburg; a sister, Monnie Bobbitt & husband, Jimmy of Bedford; a granddaughter, Crystal Tyree of Lynchburg, two great-granddaughters, Madyson & Adrianna Tyree; an adopted daughter, Libby Lawrence of Bedford; and special friends, Donnie Arthur & Roy Overstreet both of Bedford. The family would also like to give special thanks to his caregivers, Angie, Mandy, Barbara, Joyce, Tracy, Melissa and Sandra. Funeral services, with military honors by American Legion Post # 16, will be held at the graveside at Virginia Memorial Park on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 11:00 am with Rev. James Moon officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
