Stephanie Kaye Bennett Dews, 43 of Altavista, went to be with the Lord Saturday evening, November 30, 2013 following a difficult battle with diabetes. She was born on Tuesday, November 10, 1970 in Lynchburg, a daughter of Betsy Bennett Bryant & step-daddy, Russell of Altavista and Ronald David Bennett & wife Cathy of Bethlehem GA. Stephanie was a dedicated employee of Walmart, Altavista until she was overcome by advanced complications of diabetes. She loved life, and being with family and friends meant the world to her. Stephanie will be remembered for her kind, helpful ways and her beautiful blue eyes. In addition to her mother and father, she is survived by her son, Specialist Michael David Bennett, Sr., Combat Medic & wife, Sara of Dahlonega, GA, a grandson, Michael David Bennett, Jr of Dahlonga, GA; two brothers, Michael Patrick Bennett of Atlanta, GA, Nicholas Andrew Bennett of Madrid, Spain, fiancee, Vincent Moon of Altavista. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 2:00 pm at St. John Pentecostal Holiness Church, 6658 Dews Road, Hurt, VA with Rev. Tim Lane officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday beginning at 1 PM and other times at the residence of Betsy & Russell Bryant, 2134 Laurel Lane, Altavista. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
