Hubert Oliver Perdue, 72 of Moneta, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at his residence. He was born on Sunday, August 22, 1937 in Franklin Co., a son of the late Joe Perdue and Mary Elizabeth Hairfield Perdue. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey Perdue, Clay Perdue, a sister, Eva Marie Perdue and a sister-in-law, Edna Perdue. He was a bus driver with Bedford County Public Schools, a member of Emmaus United Methodist Church and also of the S. W. Antique Tractor Pulling. Surviving is his wife, Blanch Cumby Perdue; a daughter, Connie Nichols & husband, Rusty; a son, Terry Perdue & wife, Cindy; five grandchildren, Courtney, Todd & Cameron Nichols, Jacob & John Perdue, three sisters, Sarah Bowman, Mary Bolling & husband, Gordon, Juanita David; four brothers, Bobby Perdue & wife, Dorene, Lewis Perdue & wife, Elsie, Sammy Perdue & wife, Althea, Dayton Perdue & wife, Aubrey; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Sam Perdue, Tom Cumby & wife, Pat, Walter Cumby & wife, Betty, George Cumby & wife, Mary, as well as numerous nieces & nephews. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Moneta Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 497, Moneta, VA 24121. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Emmaus United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Greer officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call Friday after 12 noon and the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
