Obituary of Jerry Meador

Jerry Edward Meador, 71 of Bedford, went to be with his heavenly Father on Monday, December 23, 2013. He was born on Saturday, January 10, 1942 in Bedford County , a son of the late William E. Meador and Gracie Williamson Meador Dooley. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Katlin Michelle Stevens. Jerry worked for many years at Webster Brick in Blue Ridge. He loved to fish and watch wrestling on Television. He was a member of Mt. Olivet Southern Baptist Church for many years. Surviving is his devoted wife, Judy Hodges Meador; his daughter, Connie Meador Stevens Taylor & husband, Gregory of Altavista; his grandson, Christopher Shawn Stevens of Altavista; two sisters, Shirley Meador McBearye of Bedford, Linda Meador Johnson of Goode; his brother, Ronnie D. Meador of Bedford. He also leave behind his cats, Chase & Rusty that he loved dearly. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Mt. Olivet Southern Baptist Church, 2922 Mt. The family would like to thank Carilion Bedford Hospice for all their love & care they gave to Jerry during his illness. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 27, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Olivet Southern Baptist Church with Rev. Marc Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow in Timber Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
