Wallace Fulton Dalton, 84 of Altavista, VA passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Autumn Care of Altavista. He was born on Monday, November 16, 1925 in Pittsylvania Co., a son of the late Giles Dalton and Carrie Lee Keesee Dalton. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen Irene Ashbaush Dalton and a brother, Carlton Evans Dalton. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U. S. Navy and was also a mechanic. He was a member of NASCAR for many years and worked as chief mechanic for stock car driver, Bill Champion (Car # 10) Surviving are his two sons, Wallace Edward Dalton of Huddleson; David Wayne Dalton, Altavista; a daughter, Marsha Diane Krantz of Hurt; three brothers, Melvin Dalton of Motley, Silas Dalton of Altavista, Donald Dalton of Bedford; three sisters, Dot Bailey, Sylvia Dalton, both of Gretna, Pat Atkinson of Hurt, eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 11 AM at New Prospect Baptist Church by Rev. James Manuel.
