Norma Jean Miller Bobbitt, 72 of Thaxton, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born on Tuesday, October 7, 1941 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Robert A. Miller and Mary Hazel Ferguson Miller. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Lee Bobbitt, a sister, Mary Ellen M. Fariss and a brother, Samuel Alfred "Sambo" Miller. She was a retired employee of Sam Moore Furniture and was a member of Patmos United Methodist Church. Surviving are her sons, Timothy Lee Bobbitt of Roanoke, Owen Dale Bobbitt of Moneta; two sisters, Alice Ferguson-Scott & husband, J. D. of Bedford, Bonnie Overstreet & husband, Larry of Thaxton; two brothers, Robert L. Miller of Moneta, Jerry L. Miller & wife, Terry of Amherst, four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the graveside at Patmos United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:30 until 1:30 at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford
