Charlie L. Dowdy, 82 of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born on Monday, June 1, 1931 in Pittsylvania County, a son of the late John Thurman Dowdy, Sr. and Nettie Wood Dowdy. He was precede in death by one brother & four sisters. Surviving are his sons, C. Leslie Dowdy & wife, Carolyn, Larry M. Dowdy; a daughter, Gail W. Dowdy; a sister, Betty Harper, seven grandchildren & four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the graveside at Leesville United Methodist Church Cemetery on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
