Roselle Nester Smith, 75 of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at her residence. She was born on Wednesday, June 22, 1938 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late John Nester and Mary Etta Overstreet Nester. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Garland Nester and a sister, Maxine Haynes. She was retired from General Electric and was a member of Timber Ridge Baptist Church. Surviving is her husband, Hubert C. Smith; her daughter, Cindy S. Hilditch & husband, Mark of Stevensville, MD; her grandson, Mark Hilditch, Jr. of Stevensville, MD; a sister, Judy Lilley & husband, Donnie of Bedford; two brothers, Roger Nester & wife, Myrtle of Blue Ridge, Douglas Nester & wife, Ginger of Thaxton as well as numerous nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Timber Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
