Obituary of Edward Minowicz

Edward Stanley Minowicz, Jr., 60 of Moneta, passed away Monday, February 3, 2014 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was born on Thursday, November 5, 1953 in Jersey City, NJ, a son of Shirley Parks Minowicz of Moneta who survives and the late Edward S. Minowicz, Sr. He attended Chubb Institute where he received his BA degree and also a certificate in Programming. He worked for twenty years for what is now Wells Fargo before becoming ill. After testing & receiving his license, he enjoyed many hours contacting people in foreign countries with short wave radios. Being a lover of all modern electronics, he kept busy even though confined to his bed for a large part of the time. He will be sincerely missed by family & friends especially those who knew him well. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sister, Sharon Dunn & husband, Phil of Rocky Mount; his nephew, Scott Dussault of New Jersey and an aunt, Elizabeth Minowicz of New Jersey as well as many cousins & friends. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Moneta Lifesaving Crew, P. O. Box 497, Moneta, VA 24121as their services were invaluable many times. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 2 PM at Resurrection Catholic Church, 15353 Moneta Road, Moneta, VA 24121 with Father Louis Benoit officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday beginning at 1 PM and until the time of the service at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
