Walter David Easter, 68, of Bedford passed away the evening of Friday, February 7, 2014. Born in Clear Fork, West Virginia, he was a graduate of Glen Rogers High School and served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. He was married to his wife Jan in April 1970. David retired from the Insurance Company of Life of Georgia and was most recently a guard for GS4 at Genworth in Lynchburg, Virginia. He enjoyed taking care of his yard, working a crossword puzzle, and entertaining his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Deward and Joyce, and his sister Barbara Sanders. He is survived by his brothers and sister: Joseph, James, and Betty Easter; his wife, Jan; his children, Dwight and Amanda and their spouses Shannon and Casey; and his grandchildren Lily, Rae Lynn, and Bryson. The family would like to thank Dr. Temeles and his assistants at the Blue Ridge Cancer Center for their diligent care and support. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 12th, 2014 at 1 PM at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford. The family will receive guests on Wednesday beginning at 11:30 and until the time of the service at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
